Therefore, for drone pilots who wish to fly for recreational purposes or “fly for pleasure”, we have defined the general rules that must be followed to fly responsibly in most regions and situations in the world.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has updated its LAANC system (low-level notification and authorization capability) to allow recreational travelers to request automated airspace authorizations to fly in controlled airspace.

Drone Laws in the U.S.A. 

These are the basic rules you should follow when Flying drones for fun:

  • Stay below maximum altitude

The height allowed, usually 400 feet, How high can you fly your drone? In general, aviation authorities recommend flying at altitudes below 121 meters to avoid conflicts with manned aircraft, such as airplanes or helicopters. AGL means above ground level, or height above ground or ground. The rules vary from country to country (for example, the maximum height allowed in Canada is 90 meters), so check with AirMap or the local aviation authority. It is your responsibility to ensure that your drone respects this safety limit at all times.

  • Maintain the line of sight.

It’s the technical way of saying it to always make sure you can see your drone at all times. You cannot rely solely on the FPV camera of your drone or use visual aids such as binoculars or telescopes (correction lenses are acceptable, however). Also be sure to check local weather conditions, as fog and clouds can also make your unmanned aircraft difficult to see.

  • Do not fly over people.

You may think that a popular beach can be a great place to capture a great view with your new drone, but flights are not allowed on people. This may include a group of people or even a person who is not part of the associated flight crew. Use discernment and avoid stadiums, public events and community events where large groups of people can gather.

  • Fly according to a set of community directives.

Your city, city or province may have its own local regulations regarding flying drones. So be sure to check with local authorities to respect and respect these rules. If the area in which you plan to fly is not regulated by local drones, you can abide by the rules established by your country’s aviation authorities, such as the FAA.

  • Do not fly at night

This final rule is the simplest: do not fly after dark, even if your drone has night lights. Darkness is considered 30 minutes before the official sunrise or 30 minutes after the official sunset. This point is known as civil twilight.
